Sultan's Lodge, Saint Sophia Basilica - in 1453, the Saint Sophia Basilica was turned into a mosque. In 1572, Selim II ordered the services of the architect Sinan and charged him with constructing a lodge where he could slip away to pray and observe his subjects without being seen.
